Rise Up! Women for Climate Justice at the 2017 #WomensMarch

On Saturday, January 21st, 2017 the day after the U.S. presidential inauguration, thousands of women will gather in Washington D.C. to stand up for our rights, our safety, our health, our families and our communities. A coalition of diverse organizations and individuals will unite and march as a 'Women for Climate Justice' contingent during the Women's March on Washington to stand for the health of our Earth and our global communities. AIWC Implements 20 Programs for #womenclimatejustice

All India Women's Conference (AIWC) successfully completed all 20 programs as part of their work for the Women's Global Call for Climate Justice campaign re-grant partnership. These programs were conduced in different states of India and collected thousands of individual endorsements during their educational and awareness raising workshops. Prior to COP21, AIWC had conducted 6 programs with a focus on the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. The remaining workshops focused on the outcome of the Paris Agreement, the assessment of the Women and Gender Constituency and implementation. Several of the AIWC branches that participated in the workshops have started allied activities aimed at mitigation and adaptation. They are also closely working with local governments for getting gender responsive policies implemented. Day of Solidarity - APWLD

On June 9, 2016, Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) alongside the villagers and the community-based organization of Tambon Ban Haeng, Ngao District, Lampang held a Day of Solidarity. During the activity a community discussion took place, whereby the villagers and members of the Rak Ban Haeng Conservation Group shared their experiences in their struggle to resist a lignite mine in their area. Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) from different countries who are working with APWLD also shared their own experiences. The discussion and sharing reflected the similarity in the experiences that women’s human rights and environmental defenders are faced with, particularly in State- and corporate-sponsored aggression. Gender and Climate Change Film Fest

Description: The Women’s Global Call for Climate Justice (WGCCJ) presented a free selection of beautiful and inspiring short films and excerpts from full-length films featuring stories of women from around the world, their relationship with climate change, and their campaigns for climate justice. Several of the film producers and directors participated in a panel and Q & A following the screening of the films. Continue reading

Tweet-a-thon for #WomenClimateJustice

Description: The Feminist Task Force, together with the Women’s Global Call for Climate Justice and the World We Want 2015 Global Platform, is hosting an all-day Tweet-a-thon on Dec. 8th, Day of Action on Gender during the Paris COP21. The purpose is to raise awareness on the interlinkages of climate change and gender, poverty and other issues.
