On Saturday, April 29th thousands of individuals will mobilize in Washington, D.C. and across the United States and the world for the 2017 People's Climate March (PCM) for Climate, Jobs & Justice. The Women's Global Call for Climate Justice (WGCCJ) Campaign strongly supports the Women for Climate Justice (WCJ) Contingent at the PCM. Today, we ask YOU to join us in amplifying the WCJ demands this weekend and beyond by signing our petition here: https://action.manifesta.net/p/womenclimatejusticePCM The Women's Global Call for Climate Justice and the WCJ Contingent call for:

  • An end to climate denialism, extractive economies & fossil fuel industry
  • Women's rights, indigenous peoples rights, rural community rights, immigrant rights, LGBTQI rights to be at the core of all climate policies and action
  • A just and equitable transition that includes access to safe, just and renewable energy and decent work opportunities for women while redistributing care work
We will march as a diverse, intersectional coalition of women's groups, climate justice organizations, and allies with a strong voice and demands that will echo beyond the march. The signatories of this petition will be added to the WGCCJ Statement of Solidarity and shared via social media to amplify our demands and highlight our commitment to climate justice.

We ask for justice, we ask for equality. We are feminists, the climate activists.

Why is this important?

Climate change is the defining crisis of our time and women, many of whom are on the frontlines of climate impacts and climate solutions, are gravely concerned about the implications of climate skepticism, advancement of fossil fuels, extractive economies, racism, bigotry, and sexist oppression.

As a collective, we will be sending a clear message to the U.S. Administration and world governments that, as women, we are ready to exercise solidarity through our power to withdraw our labour, consumption and consent from the existing system that has created crises and perpetrates inequalities. We echo the WCJ demands to march to reject the fossil fuel industry and work toward a just and equitable transition for all towards a low carbon, environmentally sustainable economy.
